Princess Eugenie mugged on holiday
|
Its a tough life being sixth in line to the British throne. As youve no doubt heard, the Duke and Duchess of Yorks youngest daughter Eugenie is currently in the middle of her gap year, which seems to consist of 12 months of back-to-back holidays at a cost of an estimated £250,000 in security fees to the British taxpayer.
But its not all plain sailing for Princess Eugenie. This weekend the royal revellers holiday was rocked by her involvement in a mugging in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh. The 19-year-old heiress was visibly shaken when a gang of bandits grabbed her friends purse and attempted to make off with it.
Lucky, then, that the aforementioned hired muscle were on hand to justify their whopping great wage packets. Having been floored with a perfectly timed rugby tackle, the thieves were pinned down and the princess and her two gap chums were escorted to safety.
They feared the incident was escalating out of control and took the decision to focus on the safety of their principal," trilled a royal spokesman when questioned about the incident.
The royal household has been criticised in the past for the amount of cash it spends on Eugenie and her sister Beatrices security, which industry professionals have deemed unnecessary since the pair are low-target risks. Its alleged that their dad, Prince Andrew, insists the pair have round-the-clock security. We guess hes feeling vindicated this morning!
